A high-grade graphite development opportunity in Europe
European Green Metals Ltd, the critical metals exploration and development company focussed in European, is pleased to announce that it has acquired the Pajala Graphite Project (‘Pajala’ or ‘The Project’) in Northern Sweden from Rockfleet Minerals Ltd (‘Rockfleeet’).
Highlights
- Rockfleet holds two 15-year exploration permits with historic resources:
- Lehtosölkä 101 with 1.75Mt at 9.6% graphite; and
- Liviövaara 101 with >0.5Mt at 23% graphite.
- A larger permit, Lehtöslkä 102, is pending.
- EGM will commence programme of ground mapping and geophysics and historic core review to ascertain the true potential of the Project.
EGM Chief Executive Officer David Hall said, “Pujala has excellent development potential. The main value driver is that EV batteries require large amounts of graphite and Europe needs a local and reliable supply to feed its rapidly expanding EV battery production. We have significant historical data; the graphite is high grade and in a jurisdiction that understands resource development. By applying our resource development experience, particularly in Sweden, our focus is now on fast-tracking Pujala to resource definition.”
Details
EGM has acquired the Pajala Graphite Project in Northern Sweden from Rockfleet Minerals Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of Ireland holding two 15-year exploration permits, Liviövaara 101 and Lehtöslkä 101, which were granted on 9 March 2022 and cover 52 sq. km; a larger permit, Lehtöslkä 102, is pending.
Pajala is located approximately 12km southwest of the town of Pajala with a latitude and longitude of 67.15° N, 23.15° E respectively in the Pajala district in Norrbotten County. The licence covers drill defined graphite mineralisation with the Lehtosölkä deposit having an historic resource of 1.75Mt at 9.6% graphite and Liviövaara >0.5Mt at 23% graphite. Historic grades include 4.7m @ 39% graphite.
Pajala has a population of 1,958 inhabitants (2010 figure) and is the seat for the Pajala municipality, which has a population of 5,973 inhabitants as at 31 December 2021. The Kaunisavaara iron ore mine, owned by Kaunis Iron AB, is located 21km north-northwest of Pajala. The city of Lulea is 223km south of Pajala by road and daily flight connections between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Lulea airport are available for international travel. The eastern end of the runway at Pajala airstrip is located 5.2km to the northeast of the Liviövaara graphite zone.
EGM will commence programme of ground mapping and geophysics and historic core review to ascertain the true potential of the Project.
